This part of London exhibits many characteristics for strong growth with the impetus from the London Olympics in 2012 still resulting in regeneration and heavy investment into the area. Sitting 10 minutes from the City and a stones throw from trendy Shoreditch it is one of the strongest areas in the London market so when the opportunity to invest there arose we jumped at the chance. We are working with a development partner East Eight, recognising their local knowledge provides great insight and a safe pair of hands for oversight of the project.
The site consists of 0.7 hectares of space in a residential area and the current 2 storey building is currently occupied by a church, having previously been used as a printers merchants. With the commercial lease coming to an end the space is ideally suited for a mix-development scheme consisting of D1 community space and C3 residential space, with approximately 20 units.
We are currently in the pre-planning phase with discussion with Hackney council ongoing prior to the formal planning application. The construction will follow immediately upon consent in 2017 and would be expected to take 10-12 months.
